It makes a plain hard disk into a private disk that can be accessed by its owner only. It provides transparent "on-the-fly" encryption for your notebook or desktop personal computer. On-the-fly encryption means that data are automatically encrypted or decrypted right before they are loaded or saved, without any user intervention.
